Surf is the face height at the beach after the swell is filtered for the way Sango Bay faces. Arrows show where the swell and wind are heading. Tide is the height at Kyle Of Durness above chart datum, rising ↑ or falling ↓; the rating drops when the tide is outside the window this break works on. Amber marks the sessions worth setting an alarm for. From Wednesday the swell comes from Météo-France's 10-day model, which is coarser than the 5 km German model used close in. Hours no model reaches are left blank, not shown as flat.

Exposure

Sango Bay faces north-east. Swell inside the lit window reaches the beach; anything from behind the headlands scores nothing, however big the buoy says it is.

Getting there
Head to durness on the A838 you'll drive straight through it and stop anyway!!..

Absolutely beautiful bay with ideal camping spot right at the break.. Picks up most swells and give good protection from all but northly winds.. well worth a drive.. check out the caves in the area also.. they sound great.. when we were there we didn't go.. to busy chasing swell.. wish we had...

1 Jan 2010 · m3d8 Well worth the walk - the sights are breath taking and the waves not either!
15 Sep 2005 · shottykid Stayed up there Tue 13th Sep for a couple of days. The surf was superb 3' and semi-hollow beachbreaks with no-one around. The wind was steaming off shore and holding the faces up very well. The lazy crofter is a cool place to chill out too and very reasonable!
