Surf is the face height at the beach after the swell is filtered for the way Saltburn Beach faces. Arrows show where the swell and wind are heading. Tide is the height at River Tees Entrance above chart datum, rising ↑ or falling ↓; the rating drops when the tide is outside the window this break works on. Amber marks the sessions worth setting an alarm for. From Wednesday the swell comes from Météo-France's 10-day model, which is coarser than the 5 km German model used close in. Hours no model reaches are left blank, not shown as flat.

Exposure

Saltburn Beach faces north. Swell inside the lit window reaches the beach; anything from behind the headlands scores nothing, however big the buoy says it is.

How Saltburn Beach works

Swell
Best from the north east.
Wind
South West is offshore.
Tide
all tides.
Getting there
Saltburn is on the A174 coast road between middlesborough and Whitby.

Good beach break that picks up most swell on this stretch of coast. If it's small everywhere else up or down the coast it'll be a 1ft or so bigger here.

2 Oct 2005 · jo saltburn beach rocks!!!
1 Sep 2005 · shitlocks and a clean northerly ground swell at low/mid tide surf pennys hole, its always better than the pier, but on big days watch out for the current that takes you into the channel and out to S'burn point, that place can be pretty sketchy.
25 May 2005 · Ry Think you can shoot the pier? Try it! Can screw your board up really bad, believe me!
26 Mar 2005 · cc nice wave if you catch it right caught it 3-4 a few months ago
