Hells Mouth faces south-west. Measured from the seabed, it is open to swell from S round to W; the brighter a wedge, the deeper the water in that direction and the more of the swell gets in. Anything from behind the headlands scores nothing, however big the buoy says it is.

21 Jun 2005 · surfrat Get it at mid to high tide....bit of a shorey to get through if its over head high....but nice waves and a huge beach to spread the crowds...worth a trip to wales !!
27 Nov 2004 · jam hells mouth is a gr8 place 2 surf!! you just need to get the right time of year and right wether! i first surfed there and still to this day it doesnt diapoint me!
