Surf is the face height at the beach after the swell is filtered for the way Fistral faces. Arrows point to where the swell and wind come from: an arrow pointing up means from the north. Tide is the height at Newquay above chart datum, rising ↑ or falling ↓; the rating drops when the tide is outside the window this break works on. Amber marks the sessions worth setting an alarm for. From Wednesday the swell comes from Météo-France's 10-day model, which is coarser than the 5 km German model used close in. Hours no model reaches are left blank, not shown as flat.

Exposure

Fistral faces north-west. Measured from the seabed, it is open to swell from W round to NE; the brighter a wedge, the deeper the water in that direction and the more of the swell gets in. Anything from behind the headlands scores nothing, however big the buoy says it is.

1 Jan 2010 · eightlegged Has good banks and is one of the UK's most consistent breaks, but if you can get a wave on your own here you surf in the dark.. and even then only if they're not running a night comp!

24 Aug 2005 · cornish expat the best way to beat the rat race in the water is to work on the west coast of ireland during summer months, the place rocks!! scored crab island 2 weeks ago solid 4-6 foot medium crowd epic waves, fisty 2foot clean and mobbed, the most anoying thing about fisty is the relentless chanting of the life guards screaming at every one to respect the rules and regulations, bollocks to that escape to the emerald isle, the grass really is sweater on the other side!!!!
