Surf is the face height at the beach after the swell is filtered for the way Eoropie faces. Arrows show where the swell and wind are heading. Tide is the height at Stornoway above chart datum, rising ↑ or falling ↓; the rating drops when the tide is outside the window this break works on. Amber marks the sessions worth setting an alarm for. From Wednesday the swell comes from Météo-France's 10-day model, which is coarser than the 5 km German model used close in. Hours no model reaches are left blank, not shown as flat.
Exposure
Eoropie faces north-west. Swell inside the lit window reaches the beach; anything from behind the headlands scores nothing, however big the buoy says it is.
- W
- 2.6 m at 11 s (swell) · 97 % reaches the beach
- SW
- 1.7 m at 6 s (wind sea) · 14 % reaches the beach
How Eoropie works

- Wind
- South East is offshore.
- Tide
- all tides.
- Getting there
- A Beach right on the North west of Lewis, Drive north up the coast road.. you can't miss it!
Eoropie is a large exposed beach. Probably the most exposed spot on the Island of Lewis so head here if it's small. The beach has various shifting sandbar peaks which break left and right, there is also Reef/Boulder breaks at either end of the bay. It's a pretty safe place to surf, just the usual Rips and rocks to deal with.
